An eye opener and a
reality check.

I had the honor to attend the Texas Fire Chief Academy as a Year 1 student (June 2024.) One the best training sessions was given by Deputy Fire Chief Dan DeYear (Ret.) called “LODD What Did We Miss?”

This class was a gut punch, an eye opener, and a reality check to me as a Fire Chief and as the 1st Vice President of the Texas Fire Chief Association as it reinforced the importance of enforcing policies and procedures for fire ground tactics and strategies.

This class will make you take a step back and rethink whether we as leaders are doing everything within our [powers] to ensure that our firefighters go home safely!

Deputy Fire Chief Dan DeYear (Ret.), thank you for having the Courage to present this class and ensuring that we as Leaders do the right thing to ensure that our firefighters are priority #1.
